For virtually every Spaniard, no other result was possible; for them the final was merely a formality vindicating Spain as the only nation currently playing the game properly. With a 4-0 result in the final, I suppose it's hard to argue.

So that's it until the next competition; the drunks have been removed from the fountain, the flags are no longer flying from every balcony, and life is now gradually returning to its normal leisurely pace.
